An inmate with a history of serious violence has escaped from Tongariro-Rangipo Prison prison in the central North Island.
[image:2861:third:right]Police say they are urgently seeking information to help find Lex Miller, 48.
He escaped the prison on Thursday afternoon and is believed to be in possession of a stolen silver 1994 Toyota Camry sedan.
He was wearing a tan shirt, blue jeans and white trainers.
Police believe Miller may be heading to the Whakatane area.
