An online booking agency for baches is welcoming a review of "insanely generous" tax rules affecting holiday homes.
The Inland Revenue Department will look at the way owners can use the homes as a tax write-off.
Under existing law, owners can rent their property for just a few weeks but claim expenses for long periods of the year while it is empty.
That can lead to a loss, which can be written off against other income.
Bookabach, owned by the Automobile Association, describes the current situation as insanely generous.
It says a small number of owners are advertising their baches to make it look as though they are for rent, which allows them to claim expenses.
However, it says these owners do not seem to actually accept guest bookings.
Inland Revenue is seeking public feedback on the proposal to further limit tax deductions for what are known as mixed use assets - those which have both a private and business use. They include other property such as yachts.
