Webb Ellis Cup touring NZ will be used in tournament

The International Rugby Board says the Rugby World Cup that has toured New Zealand is the one that will be presented to this year's winning captain.

It has been revealed there are two versions of the Webb Ellis Cup - one manufactured in 1906 and the other in 1986.

The board's chief executive, Mike Miller, told Morning Report the trophy that travelled New Zealand in a promotional tour over the past few weeks was the 1986 version.

But he says the two cups, made from the same mould, are interchangeable, with neither given preference over the other. The newer trophy will be used for this year's tournament.
