Women butchers took the top titles in this year's Young Butcher awards.
Alesha Ross from Nosh, Matakana, won the Young Butcher of the Year competition. She was second in the competition last year.
And Abigail Smith from Pak'nSave in Kaitaia is the Apprentice Butcher of the Year.
A butcher at the other end of his career was also recognised. Todd Heller was presented with the Christie Award, which recognises a lifetime of achievement in the meat industry.
