Police have arrested a Te Awamutu man after an attempt was made to strangle an officer with his radio cord.
The officer was responding to a callout when attacked early on Thursday.
The attacker fled after the constable used pepper spray on him.
A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with numerous offences following a search by armed police on Monday.
The man will appear in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday.
