Teens questioned in Hawke's Bay raid

5:47 pm on 28 July 2011

Police in Wairoa are questioning two teenagers following an armed offenders callout in northern Hawke's Bay.

About 50 police from Gisborne and Wairoa descended on a remote area near Mohaka on Thursday.

Police were alerted to the theft of a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a boat from Lake Waikaremoana, about 65km from Wairoa, about 9am.

The owner of the Nuhaka garage north of the town says he saw about six police cars travelling south at high speed just after 2pm.

Police say they stopped a vehicle in the Mohaka area, south of Wairoa, and two male teenagers have been taken into custody for questioning.

Police are looking for a third person thought to be carrying a firearm.

The stolen vehicle and boat have been recovered.
