A Wellington man employed by the police has been found guilty of illegally possessing firearms.
A defended hearing for Patrick Phipps, 44, in the Wellington District Court ended on Wednesday.
Two rifles, a Finnish Velmet semi-automatic and a Czechoslovakian VZ58 automatic, were found inside the torso and legs of uniformed mannequins during a search of his home in the suburb of Johnsonville.
Phipps will be sentenced on Friday.
