Southland beat Canterbury by 22-19 at Rugby Park, Christchurch, on Saturday to take the Ranfurly Shield back to Invercargill.
A drop goal by first five James Wilson with three minutes remaining sealed the win.
Canterbury led 16-9 at half-time.
The Stags won the Shield off Canterbury in 2009 only to lose it to them last year.
Southland captain Jamie Mackintosh told Sky Sport he's sure Stags fans will be celebrating long and hard.
