Redundancy document slip investigated

1:26 pm on 13 July 2011

Insurance company AMP has launched an investigation after a plane passenger saw some of the company's confidential redundancy documents.

Auditor Frank van der Zwaag says he's aghast he was able to clearly read confidential papers with AMP letterheads being held by a fellow passenger on a recent Air New Zealand flight into Wellington.

AMP says it has begun an immediate investigation to establish what occurred and will take any appropriate action once that's done.

After merging in March, AMP and AXA are still working out a new organisational structure.

AMP says until the full consultation process has finished, it cannot speculate on the number of jobs likely to be affected but says it will focus on redeploying staff where possible.
