An abseiling window cleaner is lucky to be alive after falling five floors from a building, hitting a parked car.
The man, in his mid 20s was cleaning windows on a commercial building on The Terrace in Wellington when the incident occurred at about 12.15pm on Thursday.
Wellington Free Ambulance says it appears his safety rope gave way.
Spokesperson Kate Worthington says the man, who has serious leg injuries and possibly pelvis and back injuries, is lucky to survive the fall.
She says the man hit the car, then rolled onto the road. He is being treated at Wellington Hospital.
