Flight schedules are returning to normal after disruptions caused by volcanic ash, though some passengers are facing a lengthy wait to get to their destinations.
The Civil Aviation Authority says the ash cloud from a volcanic eruption in Chile that was hovering over the country is moving east, and airlines have been given the all-clear to resume flights.
Qantas, Jetstar and Pacific Blue grounded their planes almost all the past 16 days, returning to to normal schedules on Monday.
Qantas has put on additional flights between Sydney and Auckland and Melbourne to Auckland to help clear passenger backlogs while Jetstar is considering whether it will put on more services.
A Jetstar spokesperson said flights were filling fast on Monday and the airline was expecting it to stay that way for at least another two days.
It said it is contacting all affected passengers about their travel, and offering them the chance to re-schedule flights or organise a credit.
Air New Zealand, which has been flying under the ash cloud throughout the two-week disruption, says services are still running normally.
