The Government says a record number of young children are now fully immunised and financial incentives for parents may not be warranted.
The Health Ministry has released the government's response to a report calling for more action to boost immunisation rates.
Parliament's health select committee said in March that it was worried about low immunisation rates among Maori, and called on the Government to explore financial incentives to lift rates.
But the Health Minister, Tony Ryall, says a record 90% of two-year-olds have had all their recommended immunisations.
He suggested incentives may not be needed to achieve the target of 95% by mid 2012.
