Two churches, a scout hall and a tyre shop were damaged by fires around Wellington overnight.
The Tony's Tyre Service building in Porirua was extensively damaged in the first, at 6.30pm. It took several hours to put out.
At about 8.30pm, fire crews were called to a fire inside a Gospel Church at Porirua.
Within two hours, the Wainuiomata Gospel Chapel was also ablaze.
And some residents in the eastern suburb of Seatoun had to be evacuated when a fire in a scout hall spread to nearby scrub soon after midnight.
It's not known if the fires are connected, but police and fire safety officers are treating them all as suspicious.
