Warriors player Kevin Locke is to be questioned by police about a sexual complaint.

The NRL franchise club says Locke, 22, strenuously denies any wrongdoing. No charges have been laid.

The team says it has been told by his lawyer that he wanted his name made public to avoid speculation.

Police will not release details about the investigation saying only that they look into all complaints of rape or sexual assault.

Kevin Locke made his debut for the Warriors in May 2009.

A spokesperson for the team says he is cooperating fully with police and there will be no further comment.
