Restaurant manager three times over limit

A Hamilton restaurant manager was found to be nearly three times over the legal alcohol limit while driving, according to police.

The 37-year-old woman was seen getting into a car by security camera operators who became concerned about her wellbeing.

She was stopped by police outside her home and when tested had a level of 1157micrograms per litre of breath. The limit is 440 micrograms.

The woman has been charged with dangerous driving, having a third or subsequent excess breath alcohol reading and threatening language and will appear in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday.

Waikato road policing manager Leo Tooman says it is disappointing that with so much focus on host responsibility, someone in the industry could be found in such a state.

The woman holds a general manager's certificate under the Sale of Liquor Act and manages a licensed restaurant.

Mr Tooman says the matter will be taken to the Liquor Licensing Authority.
