6:20 pm on 22 March 2011

The death a Christchurch roofing contractor killed while working on a building just outside of the earthquake cordon has been refered to the Coroner.

Mathew John Down, 55, was working on a leaky building which was not damaged by the February quake when he died last Thursday.

Police say the Coroner will confirm the cause of death, but they believe Mr Down was electrocuted.

The Department of Labour and police are also investigating.
