A slimming product has been recalled from sale after it was found to contain a toxic ingredient.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand says the nationwide recall of Latin Seed followed tests which showed it contains yellow oleander seed, not candle nut as declared on the label.
Acting chief scientist Dorothy Mackerras says yellow oleander is banned as a food product because it is toxic.
She says it can cause a variety of symptoms ranging from diarrhoea to heart damage.
Dr Mackerras says anyone who has used Latin Seed and felt unwell should seek immediate medical advice.
The product is available in retail outlets throughout Australia and is also sold over the internet.
