AA concerned at lack of knowledge about brakes

A survey by the Automobile Association shows that nearly 60% of people who have the anti-lock braking system in their vehicle, don't know how to carry out an emergency stop correctly.

The AA says it expected the figure to be bad, but the results are a real eye opener.

However, road safety consultant Peter Sheppard says the number who don't know how to use ABS brakes, is even higher than the AA survey, at 69%.

Both Mr Sheppard and the AA say that if everyone who has ABS, knew how to use it properly, that would save lives.
