A new Chief Censor has been appointed, five months after Bill Hastings vacated the role.

Andrew Jack, who starts a three-year term in March, is a former chief legal adviser with the police who has 26 years of experience in the public service.

He is currently a group manager for legal and advisory services at Customs.

Internal Affairs Minister Nathan Guy says Dr Jack has a strong legal background and experience in dealing with law enforcement.
