Police are investigating allegations that a sexual assault was filmed by high school students in the Coromandel Peninsula.
Detective Sergeant Martyn Hughes says Thames-Coromandel police first became aware of the incident after media coverage at the weekend.
He says officers are investigating to establish the accuracy of the story and have not received a complaint in relation to the incident.
