Buses in Wellington begin using a newly completed inner-city route on Sunday.
Part of it goes through a former pedestrian mall, Manners Mall, while traffic flow is also changing on other sections of the Golden Mile route from Courtenay Place to Lambton Quay.
Buses will travel in both directions on Willis and Manners streets, while the direction of traffic on lower Cuba St has been reversed.
Last year the Wellington City Council voted to tear up Manners Mall to allow for the two-way bus route, which it hopes will ease congestion.
Roadworks began in July, since then some businesses have reported a big fall in revenue because of the noise and dust from construction.
