Seventy-five children found in P labs

The number of children found living in clandestine methamphetamine laboratories is already up on last year's total figure.

So far this year, 75 children have been found among the labs, where batches of the drug methamphetamine, or P, are produced - 11 more children than were found in labs in 2009.

Assistant police commissioner Grant Nicholls says he is certain that a child will die, or at least get seriously injured.

He says a P lab, which is often filled with toxic waste and explosive chemicals, is a dangerous and unhealthy place for a child.
