Person falls from Christchurch's Tūranga library

A person was been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a fall from Christchurch's central Tūranga library on 10 February.

A person has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after falling from Christchurch's central Tūranga library.

Emergency services were called to the building near Cathedral Square shortly before 11am on Tuesday.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said two ladder trucks and a rescue truck worked to free the person.

St John sent two ambulances and two rapid response vehicles to the scene, where the patient was assessed.

Police said they were in attendance with other emergency services and the person had been taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The library is closed for the day.
