Two people have been rescued after their plane landed in the water at the Bay of Islands this morning.
The Civil Aviation Authority said the plane had landed on the water off Cape Brett.
"We'll be conducting preliminary enquires over the coming days to establish what happened and any further action that might be required," a spokesperson said.
Police said they had received a mayday call at around 10.10am that a light plane had landed in the bay.
A private boat picked up the two people on board and took them to shore.
Police say neither were injured, and the harbourmaster will look into recovering the plane.
