Police say one person has died, after they responded to a serious crash, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a driveway.
Emergency services were called to a property on Manuka Street in Matamata about 1.50pm Saturday. Police reported that initial indications suggested serious injuries, but later posted an update to say a person had died.
Manuka Road was closed, while emergency services worked at the scene, and motorists were asked to avoid the area if possible and advised to expect delays.
Police are investigating what happened.
