A driver and passenger are dead after their car crashed into a power pole in Waikato last night.
The crash occurred at Karangahake, which is located between Paeroa and Waihi.
Police say they were alerted to the crash on State Highway 2, between Jackson and Rahu Roads, at 11.40pm.
The road was closed overnight, however, the NZ Transport Agency said on X it had reopened by 6am.
Police are continuinbg to look into the cause of the crash.
