Police swarm Auckland suburb, one seriously injured

A person has been seriously injured in an incident which saw police swarm the Auckland suburb of Avondale this afternoon.

Two men have been arrested over the assault.

Police were called to an address on Great North Road in Avondale about 3.25pm.

A person was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.

A 28-year-old man is due to appear in Auckland District Court on Wednesday for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 31-year-old is facing a charge of common assault.

Police said it was believed all parties involved were known to each other.

It said enquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident.
