Police have charged a man with murder after the death of a 36-year-old in North Dunedin.
The man was found dead at a Great King Street property after police were called about 2pm on Friday.
The 25-year-old accused will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Monday morning.
Police said the pair were believed to be known to each other.
Court documents suggest the dead man was stabbed.
Detective Inspector Shona Low on Saturday said a homicide investigation was underway after the sudden death of the 36-year-old.
"The circumstances of the man's death remain under investigation, but initial indications suggest he died from non-accidental injuries," Low said, at the time.
"There will be an increased police presence in North Dunedin as we work to establish how the man died, and when. Formal identification procedures will be carried out in the coming days as well as a forensic post-mortem.
