A woman has died and another person is seriously injured after a crash in the Auckland suburb of Ellerslie this afternoon.
Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on Main Highway near a busy intersection about 3.40pm.
Police said a female occupant from one of the vehicles died at the scene, despite assistance from emergency services, while a second person from the other vehicle suffered serious injuries.
An investigation is now underway into the crash.
Main Highway remains closed between the intersections of Ellerslie-Panmure Highway and Amy Street.
Police said they were aware the crash will cause serious disruption, and have asked drivers to avoid the area.
