Police are seeking any witnesses to at least two vehicles travelling together around the time of a fatal crash near Palmerston North.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Hansens Line in Newbury at 9am Sunday, where a person was found dead near the vehicle involved.
Police believe the crash happened at 3.20am that morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross said they wanted to hear from any witnesses to vehicles of interest, a blue Mazda Demio and a white Nissan Tida, in the Palmerston North or Newbury area around that time.
