Three Auckland Prison inmates have been charged after a serious assault that left one man with critical injuries.
Waitematā CIB have been investigating an assault which happened on 19 August at Auckland Prison.
A man attacked by three other men "sustained significant injuries" and "remains in hospital", acting detective inspector Simon Harrison said.
He said three men had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The men - aged 27, 29 and 42 - are due to appear in the North Shore District Court on 16 September.
