Fuel tank explodes at commercial building injuring one

A fuel tank has exploded at a commercial building in the Auckland suburb of Wiri leaving one person injured.

Fire and Emergency Northern shift manager Michael Anderson says they sent three fire trucks to Southpac Trucks on Wiri Station Road about 3.20pm.

St John says a patient in serious condition has been transported to Middlemore hospital.

They would not comment on the nature of the injuries.

One ambulance and one rapid response unit were also sent to the scene.
