Police say they will not be laying charges in relation to the death of a man in the Far North four years ago.
Trevor John Ruatoto died on 10 July, 2021.
On Friday, Sergeant Treston Laybourn said following a thorough investigation into his death no criminal charges would be laid.
"As such, police will be referring Ruatoto's death to the coroner.
"Police have spoken with all parties concerned, and have remained in contact with whānau throughout this matter."
Laybourn said Ruatoto's death would be a matter for a coroner to issue findings on due course.
"As such it would be inappropriate for police to comment further at this time."
