One person has died after a crash on State Highway 50 north of Tikokino, Central Hawke's Bay.
The incident involved one vehicle and happened shortly before 12.10pm, police say.
The highway was closed for a few hours for debris removal.
Police say the Serious Crash Unit is making enquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
