A mother accused of disposing of the body of her newborn baby has pleaded not guilty at the Auckland District Court.

The baby's body was found in Auckland's Albert Park on Sunday by a park worker.

The 36-year-old is facing a charge of disposing of the body of her child with the intent of concealing the fact of its birth.

The woman's lawyer, Holly Aitken, said her client pleaded not guilty and elected trial by jury.

Aitken said she was seeking expert reports and medical advice for her client, and continued to seek interim name suppression and suppression of other identifying details.

The woman was granted continued name suppression and was remanded on bail until her next appearance in November.

She appeared emotional as she stood in the dock before Judge Simon Lance.

Earlier when she first arrived in the courtroom, she was accompanied by three people who were comforting her before her case was called.

Auckland Council said the parks maintenance contractor who found the child's body was being supported, as well as other staff who worked in the vicinity of Albert Park.
