Emergency services responding to suspected chlorine leak at poultry plant in Christchurch

Firefighters are responding to a suspected chlorine leak at the Tegel poultry plant in the Christchurch suburb of Hei Hei.

The leak was reported just before 3.30pm on Monday afternoon.

Fire and Emergency's Christchurch Command Unit, which has chlorine detection equipment, is at the plant, along with other appliances.

St John said it sent one ambulance and two rapid response units.

One person was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
