A street was closed as armed police carried out an operation in a Rotorua suburb.
Police aid the operation on Scott Ave, Ōwhata, was pre-planned and they did not believe there was any risk to public safety.
Cordons were in place on Thursday morning and some staff were armed as a precaution, police said.
The road had been re-opened and the cordon moved by about 10am.
"There will be a Police presence there for some time as we continue to make area inquiries," police said.
