Man arrested motorbikes seized, as part of investigation into aggravated robbery in Northland's Whangārei

An investigation into an aggravated robbery in Northland's Whangārei has led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of multiple motorbikes.

The aggravated robbery was reported on Kensington Ave at 5.50pm on July 7.

The victim was transported to hospital at the time of the alleged robbery but police said they were now recovering well at home.

Local police said officers had been making investigating the robbery and three homes were searched in Whangārei on Thursday morning.

"Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and seized three motorbikes believed to be involved in this incident," said Acting Detective Sergeant Wahanui Reihana.

"This man will appear in Whangārei District Court tomorrow charged with aggravated robbery and wounding with intent to injure."

Reihana said police investigations were continuing and the team were following leads to find five others believed to be involved.
