Hundreds of people in West Auckland were without power on Friday night after a car crashed into a power pole.
Police said emergency services received reports of a vehicle crashing into a power pole on Te Atatu Road around 11.30pm.
A spokesperson said one person was thought to have sustained minor injuries. The driver was summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Power supplier Vector said the collision completely destroyed the pole and took out power to the surrounding area.
It said power was restored to most homes shortly after the crash, but further repairs needed to be carried out.
Power was due to be back on by the middle of Saturday morning.
