The Broadcasting Standards Authority has not upheld a complaint about a RNZ report which suggested a run of hot days in Hamilton was probably unprecedented.
The complainant, Ian Wishart, provided records from the 1930s that indicated Hamilton had previously experienced a heatwave of greater duration and intensity.
He argued the broadcast was inaccurate and misleading.
The Authority found the statements complained about were analysis, comment or opinion to which the Accuracy standard does not apply and did not result in the broadcast being misleading.
