Second set of PHO ratings released

District health boards have released a second set of league tables showing how primary health organisations (PHOs) are performing.

The Health Ministry released the first set of tables for PHOs in March, following an official information request from Radio New Zealand.

The second set was released on Friday by District Health Boards New Zealand, which says they show that PHOs are making consistent progress across a set of national health indicators.

It says, for example, that the information shows PHOs are doing well on diabetes detection but less well on diabetes follow-up.

It says that performance on cardiovascular risk assessments appears low but that good progress is being made in that area too.

DHBs plan to make the information available every six months.
