Drivers in Lower Hutt were asked to be patient after a car rolled on Woburn Road.
Police said emergency services were called to the scene at about 7:30am on Wednesday.
They said it was not known if anyone was injured.
The road - which has since reopened - was closed with diversions in the place using Myrtle Street.
