A teenager has died after being hit by a car on State Highway 3 in Taranaki.
The collision happened in the township of Urenui at about 11.30pm on Monday.
St John Ambulance understands the victim was 16 years old.
Police are investigating why the boy was walking on the highway at that time of night, in heavy rain.
