A man has drowned in the Rangitikei River near the Manawatu town of Bulls after getting into trouble on a small rubber tube.
The police say the 19-year-old got caught on a submerged log and was pulled under about six metres from shore at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
Friends and other people in the river managed to free him, but he could not be revived.
