A man is to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Monday charged with arson after a fire on Saturday afternoon at a West Auckland house where women and children were inside.
The blaze happened at about 4.30pm at Ranui. Fire fighters took several hours to put it out.
Police say two women and two children under six years of age were in the house at the time but they managed to escape without injury.
A man, 26, was seen running from the scene. An arrest was made a short time later.
