A teenage girl has appeared in the Whangarei Youth Court charged with murdering her older sister in Ruakaka, near Whangarei.
Police were called to the property at 9.25pm on New Year's Eve, following a report that a woman, 30, had been stabbed during a domestic dispute. She died shortly afterwards.
A post mortem was completed on Friday night.
The girl, 15, was initially charged with assault. She is due to appear in court again on Tuesday.
