Speed limits on State Highway 25 around Coromandel township are soon to be officially lowered.
The area around Tiki Road and Whangapoua Road is now an 80km/h zone but will become a mixture of 50km/h and 70km/h.
The speed limit on Whangapoua Road will be lowered from 100km/h to 70km/h.
The Transport Agency says the changes follow a review of urban growth and subdivision development in the past few years.
The lower speed limits come into effect when the signs go up in the first week of November.
