Killer driver could be sentenced to prison

A Wairarapa woman who escaped a jail sentence after being found guilty of the manslaughter of her son could still end up in prison.

Wendy-May Connon was sentenced to six months community detention and two years supervision by the High Court in Wellington in September.

She had used cannabis and driven at speed before a car crash in January 2008 in which her four-year-old son Konrad Truger was killed.

The Corrections Department has now asked the court to cancel the community detention sentence, as the address where she was to serve that is no longer suitable.

Connon will be back in court in November for a hearing to determine whether she will be sent to prison or the community-based sentence will be re-instated.
