A 20-year-old man suffered life threatening burns following an explosion in a garage at an Upper Hutt home on Saturday afternoon.
An 18-year-old woman and a baby suffered minor burns and will remain in Hutt Hospital until Sunday.
The man is in a critical condition in Auckland's Middlemore Hospital, with extensive burns.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. Officials say it appears the explosion was caused by a welding accident.
