The police say a 35-year-old man died on Saturday afternoon after his off-road vehicle overturned and landed on top of him at his Taranaki property.
They say the man was was driving on private land at Normanby, southeast of New Plymouth at about 2.20pm.
The police say it appears the vehicle's tyres dug into soft ground, causing it to roll over.
The man wasn't wearing a seatbelt and fell out, becoming trapped under the vehicle.
